Even though Chula’s Restaurant and Cantina has one of the best happy hours in Eugene with our acclaimed Margarita Monday Pitchers, we still want the fiesta to continue even when you can’t be with us! Here are five tequila cocktails that you can make right at home. We’ve left out the margaritas because we still prefer you come to us for those. 😉

Paloma (pictured above)

  • Salt
  • 2 ounces fresh grapefruit juice
  • ½ ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 2 ounces club soda
  • 1 grapefruit wedge or lime for garnish

Rub the rim of your glass with grapefruit wedge and dip into salt, coating the rim. Combine grapefruit juice, lime juice and sugar in glass; stir until sugar is dissolved. Stir in tequila, add ice and top off with club soda. Garnish with grapefruit or lime wedge.

Bloody Maria

  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 4 ounces tomato juice
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish
  • 3 dashes Tabasco sauce
  • 3 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 pinch of celery salt
  • 1 pinch dashes pepper
  • 1 cucumber spear for garnish
  • 1 lemon and/or lime wedge for garnish

Add all the ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake and strain into a pint glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wedge, lemon wedge and a cucumber spear

Tequila Sunrise

  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 4 ounces orange juice
  • 1 dash grenadine syrup
  • 1 orange wedge for garnish
  • 1 maraschino cherry for garnish

Pour the tequila into a chilled glass and then the orange juice. Pour the grenadine so that it floats on top and garnish with an orange wedge and maraschino cherry.

El Diablo

  • 2 ounces tequila blanco
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounces crème de cassis (blackcurrant liqueur)
  • 3 ounces ginger beer
  • 1 lime wedge for garnish
  • 1 fresh blackberry for garnish

Add the tequila, crème de cassis and lime juice into shaker, fill with ice and shake. Strain into glass with fresh ice, top off with ginger beer and garnish with lime wedge and fresh blackberry.

Tequila Mojito

  • 6 mint leaves
  • 2 ounces tequila blanco
  • 1 ounce blue agave nectar
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 2 ounces club soda
  • 1 lime wedge for garnish
  • 1 mint sprig for garnish

Muddle mint leaves in a shaker. Add tequila, lime juice and agave nectar and fill with ice. Shake and strain into a glass filled with fresh ice. Top with club soda. Garnish with lime wedge and mint sprig.

Don’t forget, Thursdays at Chula’s Cantina are Tequila Night, which means any drink made with well tequila is only $3.75 during our happy hour from 3-6:30pm!
